Fuensanta Arismendi Plaza Scholarship

The Fuensanta Arismendi Plaza Scholarship was created in loving memory of Ms. Fuensanta Arismendi Plaza by her loving daughter, Ms. Galina Krasskova.

This story of mother and daughter is a unique one. It was when Galina was in her late 20’s that she was adopted by Fuensanta after having developed an iron-strong filial bond immediately after they met. Galina had written a poem that was published in a collection of faith-based poems that Fuensanta read. After being moved by Galina’s writing, and their shared faith, Fuensanta reached out to her. For Galina, this contact was most welcomed, as it came at a time when not much more than dead-ends were known to her. Through patient and tender care, Fuensanta encouraged Galina to continue her studies, both through supportive motivation and by supporting those efforts financially.

Although Fuensanta was born in France, she was a Swiss citizen and raised in different parts of the world, primarily Italy and Venezuela. She was fluent in six languages – English, Basel Deutsch, German, French, Italian, and Spanish – and could read Latin. She spent half of her life teaching piano in Switzerland after attending a renowned music conservatory in Basel. She valued education highly and encouraged her daughter, Galina Krasskova, to pursue her educational dreams regardless of the challenges that stood in her way. Fuensanta was a woman of bone-deep humility who loved with passion and showed kindness in all of her days. This scholarship honors both Fuensanta’s strong belief in education, and her devoted love of her daughter.

The Fuensanta Arismendi Plaza Scholarship is awarded to female students aged 30 or over.
