Lake Placid Education Foundation

The scholarship is awarded to students residing in the Lake Placid Education Foundation service area, including the counties of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Herkimer, St. Lawrence, or Warren Counties.

The Lake Placid Education Foundation was founded by Melvil Dewey, who also started the Lake Placid Club, Northwood School, and Forest Press. Mr. Dewey is best known for his invention of the Dewey Decimal Classification, which is a system used throughout the world for the organization and classification of knowledge in libraries.
