Monte and Hilda Trammer Scholarship

The Monte and Hilda Trammer Scholarship was established to provide annual tuition assistance for an Empire State College student. Monte Trammer is a retired member of the Empire State College Foundation Board. The Trammers currently live in St. Petersburg, Florida and are community volunteers in several philanthropic organizations. In addition to his service with the Empire State College Foundation Board, Mr. Trammer is Development Chair of The Florida Orchestra, a Director of the J. West Prostate Cancer Foundation and Chairman of the board of trustees of First Baptist Church of College Hill in Tampa. A member of the St. Petersburg Rotary Club, he is an active volunteer with the Pinellas Education Foundation and its Career Education Council.

The Trammers moved to St. Petersburg in early 2009 after Mr. Trammer’s thirty-nine-year career in the newspaper industry, which included stints as publisher in Elmira, Ithaca, Saratoga Springs and Clifton Park, N.Y. He was one of the founding editors of USA Today.
