Morton Bahr Distance Learning Scholarship

The Morton Bahr Distance Learning Scholarship honors the commitment to educational opportunity and the far-seeing vision of Morton Bahr, alumnus and late president emeritus of the Communications Workers of America. Morty served with distinction on the Empire State College Foundation board for nearly a decade, and was a strong supporter of our students, faculty and staff. He always looked ahead and truly saw education as a way to develop emerging union leadership. He passed away in August 2019, but his legacy continues through the Morton Bahr Scholarship.

The scholarship aims to enhance educational access for union members and other workers through distance learning; reaches out to new and underserved audiences via distance learning; and provides workers with the requisite skills to use technology effectively in college studies, in the workplace and in lifelong learning.
