Rodney Pope & Family

Through his work as Senior Vice President, Employee Relations at Turner Construction and his volunteer efforts in his community, Rodney Pope has developed a strong belief that supporting education at all levels is an incredibly powerful way to elevate individuals and their communities, noting, “Once you are educated, no one can take that away from you.” After an initial engagement with SUNY Empire’s Black Male Initiative, he was inspired by the impact the college has on underserved students and committed to learn more about how he might be able to further that work personally and professionally. Through the Pope Family Scholarship, Rodney and his family wish to have a positive impact on the lives of underrepresented students residing in the greater New York City area (Bronx, Kings, Manhattan, Queens and Richmond Counties) by providing the gift of opportunity.
