Equity in Action Scholarship
SUNY Empire is pleased to announce the Equity in Action Scholarship to be awarded to twenty-four (24) paraprofessionals who intend to obtain Initial teacher certification in Early Childhood Education at SUNY Empire. Applicants will be required to demonstrate a commitment to completion of all program requirements within four years (approximately 8 semesters) on a part-time basis, taking approximately 8 credits a term during the fall, spring, and optional summer terms. The scholarship includes:
- Tuition
- Fees
- Books
- Stipend during required observation and student teaching/placement components
- Professional opportunities
Eligibility requirements:
- Acceptance into the Early Childhood Education Program.
- Evidence of a valid NYS certification as a Teaching Assistant.
- Documentation of employment as a teaching assistant/paraprofessional.
- Commitment to completing the program in four years.
Potential candidates will be required to submit additional essays and complete an interview process.
