Dorothy Burnham Scholarship

Established in 2022 through the generosity of former colleagues and friends of Dorothy Burnham in celebration of her 107th birthday. Dorothy Burnham is a longtime civil rights advocate and former Empire State University faculty member. The scholarship will be awarded to students studying in the areas in which Dorothy worked, including Science, Technology and Mathematics; Community and Human Services; and Nursing and Allied Health. Special consideration will be given to students who are pursuing studies that are complementary to efforts to address educational disparities; eliminate barriers to equal opportunity and access; promote justice and equity; and/or the inclusion of all individuals regardless of identity or background. The scholarship is available to students who meet the Empire State University Foundation’s scholarship eligibility criteria.
